Unlike
plantar fasciitis, calcaneal (heel bone) bursitis causes an aching sensation
in the center of the heel on the underside of the foot. The pain generally increases
as the day progresses.
This is in contrast to plantar fasciitis in which the heel pain is generally
at its worst with weight bearing first thing in the morning.
Calcaneal bursitis may hurt when you press in the center of your heel. The heel
may appear swollen and feel warm to touch.
Therapy includes ice, massage, antiinflammatory medication (such as ibuprofen,
naproxen or aspirin), and orthotics featuring a soft heel pad or heel cup. |
